Keep My Sabbath Holy

YHWH, Yahweh says to keep His sabbath holy. Exodus 20:8-9 “ Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. Six day you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of YHWH your Elohim (God).” The seventh day is YHWH our God's. It seems that many do not know what that means to keep it holy or how to do it. Or what the Spirit of the Sabbath is.

If we look at the scriptures, we can go to Isaiah 58:13-14 you will find What I refer to as the Spirit of the Sabbath. Quoted from The Scriptures version of the bible it reads, “If you do turn back your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on My set-apart day, and shall call the Sabbath a delight, the set-apart day of YHWH esteemed, and shall esteem it, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasures, nor speaking your own words, then you shall delight yourself in YHWH. And I shall cause you to ride on the heights of the earth, and feed you with the inheritance of Ya'aqob, (Jacob), your father. For the Mouth of YHWH has spoken!”

The Sabbath is a day to do good. To go out of your way to help someone else. To look for an opportunity or someone to bless.

There is a time when Y'shua, (Jesus), was at the pool which in Hebrew is Beyth Zatha, (Bethesda). I will paraphrase the scriptures in the gospel of John 5 that is refer to here. There was many sick and crippled people here waiting for a time when an Angel would go down into the pool and stir the water. Then whoever got into the pool first would be healed. Now there was a man who had an infirmity for a long time. And Y'shua knew that he had been there a long time waiting. So Y'shua ask the man, “Do you want to be healed?” And he replied, “Master, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred.

Now here is a man that has lost all hope. But unbeknown to him, stood before him the personification of hope. Y'shua said to the man, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” Immediately the man was healed. And it was the Sabbath day.

As the man was walking some Jews seen him and said to him, It is the Sabbath day. “It is not lawful to carry your bed.” And He told them, The man who healed me told me to take up my bed and walk. John 5:16 says that it is because of this the Yehudim (Jews) persecuted Y'shua and they sought to kill Him because He was healing on the Sabbath day.

Now if we go back to Isaiah 58:13-14 we can see that we are not to do our own will. Y'shua was not doing his own will He was doing the will of the man that wanted healed. He ask him. “Do you want to be healed? So He was not doing his own will.

Y'shua told the man to take up his bed and walk. And the man did as he was told. So the man was not doing his own will either. He was doing the will of Y'shua. So neither one of them was doing there own will they were doing the will of the one that compelled them.

Scripture also tell us not to kindle a fire on the Sabbath day. So if you do a search of fire in scripture you will see that the first place fire is spoken of is where YHWH destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah with fire. And the last place fire is used is when YHWH judges the world and destroys it with fire. So Fire is connected with judgment.

So those who were judging Y'shua and the man that He healed for doing what someone else compelled them to do were kindling a spiritual fire. Those passing judgment were the ones that were profaning the commandment to keep the sabbath holy.

Many people will use the scripture that, the sabbath was made for man and not man for the sabbath. This is true, the sabbath was made for man and not man for the sabbath. But that does not mean that it is no longer YHWH's sabbath.

When I turned 16 years old my Dad bought a car for me. It was all mine. No one else drove it. But It was not mine to do what ever I wanted to it. It was in my Dad's name and it was insured by my Dad. I was not allow to take a sledge hammer to it and destroy it. The same is with our heavenly Father's Sabbath. It was made for us, but it is not our. It is His and He has an intended purpose for it to be used in our lives. And He is very clear how it is to be use. We do not have the right to destroy it in any way. We are to keep it Holy.

We are not to work. We are not to seek our own pleasure. We are not to buy or sell on His holy day. It is His time that we are on. Six day a week we are to do all our work but the Sabbath day is not our, it is His. For His intended purpose. And Y'shua fulfilled it perfectly by manifesting Yah's love. By doing good and blessing those He chose to pour out the Father's love upon. Y'shua did not profane the Sabbath, but He glorified it.
